Fibrotic plaque

Fibrous plaque is as bright or brighter than the adventitia without shadowing. Majority of atherosclerotic lesions are fibrotic. It has an echogenicity that is intermediate between a soft plaque and a highly echogenic calcified plaque. Its medium echo reflectivity is due to the presence of collagen.
