Vessel size

The measurement of vessel size is important to decide the stent diameter. Careful measurement is necessary to choose an optimal stent diameter. There are three methods to measure the vessel size for a stent ; adventitia to adventitia, media to media, and lumen to lumen. All of the methods has advantages and disadvantages. Regarding to use adventitia to adventitia, it can cause an oversizing of the stent and edge dissection. The variable nature of vascular remodeling make it challenging to use ‘media to media’ and ‘lumen to lumen’. And it need to consider the vasomotion and measure the vessel diameter during end-diastole.
