Remodeling

Positive remodeling occurs when there is an increase in the vessel caliber as atherosclerosis develops. The measurement of the external elastic membrane (EEM) of the most normal-looking segment within 10 mm from the lesion with no intervening branches is used as the reference segment. The remodelling index is the ratio of the EEM of the lesion and the reference segment. An index of 1.05 is considered as positive remodeling.
