Shadowing artifact

A drop of the signal (asterisk) on the abluminal side of the vessel by opaque object. Shadow may diminish the signal intensity of deeper structures or completely occlude. Commonly shadows is created by objects including the guidewire and metallic stent struts. Blood in the catheter (arrow) can also cause shadowing.
