Fold-up artifact

When a vessel appears folded, it is referred to as the fold-up artifact. This occurs in large-caliber vessels where in the vessel is larger than the ranging depth(arrow). OCT signal aliasing occurs and the image appears to fold back on itself in an inverted reflection of the tissue.
