  1. Description

Stent landing zone is important for the long term patency of the drug-eluting stent. However, The variable nature of vascular remodeling makes it challenging to choose the reference segment. The reference segment can be defined as the most normal looking site (largest lumen with minimal plaque burden) within 10 mm from the lesion site without intervening major side branches. Positive remodeling is prominent in figure C. Negative remodeling is marked in figure F which looks normal angiographically. Point ‘G’ (without negative remodeling) is appropriate as the distal reference segment for stent landing. Reference segment plaque burden <55% may be useful to determine the optimal landing zone of stent deployment.
